Industry experience sets the leadership of Reef Services apart. Each comes from a industry background that gives them a solid perspective of the issues faced by their customers. This depth of experience helps the Reef team solve complex problems effectively, whether it lies on the surface or downhole, in shale or under water. The leadership team of Reef Services includes the following people.

Clay Baten, Chief Executive Officer Print E-mail

Clay Baten, chief executive officer of Reef Services, joined Reef in 1995 as stimulation division manager and became president in 1999.

Baten began his career as a roustabout with Amoco Production in northern Michigan and quickly rose to field foreman. His experience in production, workovers, completions and drilling operations proved invaluable when he became a quality control/assurance specialist in the Permian Basin.

Baten studied math and chemistry at Texas Tech University and University of Houston. He has authored several research books and continues to contribute to new developments that shape the industry’s chemical treating standards.

 
Wayne A. Clayton, Chief Financial Officer Print E-mail

As chief financial officer for Reef Services, Wayne A. Clayton provides overall accounting management, investor reporting, banking management, and evaluation and closing of targeted acquisitions.

Clayton brings to Reef his extensive experience in public accounting, corporate management, acquisitions and public offerings with Exxon, Basic Energy and Texas Independent Energy. Clayton earned his accounting degree from Texas Tech University.

 
Randy Rodgers, Vice President of Sales Print E-mail

Randy Rodgers joined Reef Services as a treater truck driver in 1987 after years of  running heavy equipment for oilfields. He steadily rose through the company learning all aspects of the business, starting new sales territories and being given responsibility for progressively larger territories. He was named vice president of sales in 1999.

Rodgers earned an associates degree in business management from Western Texas College.

 
Mark Southerland, Mid-Continent Division Manager Print E-mail

Mark Southerland joined Reef Services in 2009 as mid-continent division manager when Reef purchased his company, Technology Management, Inc. Southerland has extensive experience in oilfield sales, having worked in the areas of production, pipeline and drilling chemical applications in California, Colorado, Louisiana, Michigan, New Mexico, Texas and Indonesia.

Southerland holds degrees in business administration and chemistry from the University of Central Oklahoma and East Central University. He is located in Edmond, Oklahoma.

 
Patrick Bair, President, CCS, subsidiary of Reef Services Print E-mail

Patrick Bair, an experienced water treatment specialist, focuses on liquid/solids separation. Bair’s 30+ years of experience includes mineral processing, oilfield, municipal, industrial and paper applications. He holds several patents for liquid/solid separation.

Before joining the Reef Services team, Bair was president of Chemical and Consulting Solutions, LLC, a global water clarification company acquired by Reef in 2009.
