Acquisition opens door for Reef Services' presence in mining & quarry chemistry
Reef Services Acquires Chemical & Consulting Solutions Acquisition opens door for Reefs’ presence in Mining & Quarry Chemistry Midland, Texas (December 29, 2009) – Reef Services has acquired Chemical & Consulting Solutions (CCS) of Glen Rose, Texas. The acquisition opens the door for Reef, headquartered in Midland, Texas, to provide chemistry to the mining and quarry water treating business, thus diversifying Reef into non-oilfield business segments. CCS provides chemistry and water treating solutions across the United States and Canada with locations in the midwest, Rocky Mountains, deep south, southwest, west and east coasts and the western provinces of Canada. In addition to providing Reef Services with a diverse customer base, CCS’ patented chemistry gives Reef a new weapon to treat produced water, recovered frac water and evaporation pits. The purchase also enhances the company's drilling fluid solids removal product line. Another piece of the new technology CCS brings includes a “green” application for fracturing friction reducing additives, which makes the fracturing business more environmentally friendly. “Acquiring CCS is a coup for Reef Services as we continue our efforts to make Reef a household name and penetrate markets that can use our technology. By providing the chemistry that makes our industry “greener”, Reef will be leading the effort to help the fracturing industry meet the stricter laws they are faced with. This is yet another way we are working on our commitment to provide solutions for our wholesale customers. ” says Clay Baten, Reef Services’ president and CEO.
